Austrian Crystal Beads
Known as the “Tiffany” of the hand-blown glass bead industry, the process to create Austrian crystals was developed in 1892 by a Bohemian man who standardized, patented and perfected his method to ensure uniformity. By adding lead to the molten glass he gave his crystals extra sparkle, taking them next level. The end result is literally a cut above the rest! Some Austrian crystals have been enhanced with a specialized coating to make the color vibrant and create an iridescence shine.
Czech Buttons
The artistry behind these glass beauties is breathtaking. Created in the Czech Republic by glass artisans, these buttons are handcrafted, one piece at a time, using an 18th century labor-intensive process. The artist works with glass rods using iron tongs, heating them to extreme temperatures, patiently pressing the glass into intricately carved metal molds that create unique patterns. When the glass cools, vivid colors and iridescent patinas are applied by hand. Because molds break and artisans retire, limited quantities of each button are available.
Miyuki Delicas and Bugles Beads
Japanese Miyuki Delica and bugle glass beads are among the most popular and highest quality seed beads in existence. Because of their consistent size and color, Miyuki beads allow artists to paint detailed jewelry designs using shapes and color. Tiny seed beads are stitched by hand to create vibrant images with dimensional, canvas-like quality. Semiprecious Stones
Believed by some to have powerful healing properties, semiprecious stones are naturally occurring rocks and minerals chosen for their beauty. The stones are tumbled, polished and sometimes dyed to enhance their natural vibrance. The color, clarity, shape, luster and size are what make these stones unique.
